I’m a junior/mid-level and just had a baby. I don’t want to go back to work full-time. Is this career possible with reduced hours? I don’t care about the money; I would rather spend time with my family while not losing my career completely.

Ugh I feel you. I had a baby last summer and I want to quit my job every. single. day. And I love (loved?) my job. My dream job would be something part time fully remote… but I don’t know if that exists lol.

I appreciate it! But I am in M&A.

Yes of course. Just ask for exactly what you want. I’ve done that with 3 different employers and they have delivered every time. I am basically unwilling to work except when my kids are at school or occupied with activities and I am unwilling to go into an office except on rare occasions for events.

I can only speak to my experience, and for me it’s been a non-issue at 2 midlaw firms and 1 BigLaw firm in major cities. 🤷‍♀️

I know I keep pitching it to people, but the boutique firm I'm at is looking for someone 4th year or higher in real estate. We have an 1800 hour requirement, BUT we are fully remote and employees are afforded copious amounts of autonomy. I'm a mom of 3 and get to go to school assemblies and field trips. It's absolutely amazing.

How recently postpartum are you? You may not be the same as me, but I always share that I felt this way the first year and then was very glad I stayed working. It can’t hurt to ask if you can go PT, but I’d be wary of making big changes that are hard to pivot from that first year.

6 months.

I am in M&A and currently on leave with my second kid and am exploring the same. My firm has a counsel role that lets you set your own hours but I don’t think it’s practical in M&A. I think I would just end up working the same hours but getting paid less as counsel. I’m up for shareholder this year so I’m going to try to bank as much money as possible while looking for in house positions. I read the book Power Pause by Neha Ruch on leave. I don’t plan on quitting entirely to be a SAHM but I thought it had a lot of helpful info for downshifting or changing jobs.

I worked 4 days for 7 years. I’m still PT but my kids are in school so I don’t reserve a full day anymore. Honestly it worked fine. Some weeks stuff came up, but I navigated it. Being PT got me into the SAHM cohort where I made tons of friends and we did fun stuff (playgroups etc). Totally worth it.

*URGENT JOB NEEDED* - BDM/E-com account management roles
Hey all, as I see a lot of recruiters in this group I wanted to know if anyone is hiring for BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER or E-COM ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT or VENDOR MANAGEMENT roles.
My husband is relentlessly trying to get a job in Canada/US but he is getting either regret mails or no response for referrals.
It would be really helpful if there is anyone is hiring for such roles or if you can refer to those roles in your organization. TIA :)

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.
