First of all, it's not just men who will try to hijack ideas, I've known women to do the same thing to other women. Some people are too competitive for their own good. But when that happens, you just have to stand your ground and defend your work and claim it as your own. If someone repeats your idea and hijacks it, call them on it right then, in the moment. It won't happen again. And, I'd also suggest coming up with ideas that are so uniquely yours that someone else can't plausibly claim them.
I’ve been in meetings where my ideas were ignored until a male colleague repeated them, and I know I’m not alone in that. What’s helped me is looping back and reaffirming: “I’m glad we’re aligned—that’s exactly what I suggested earlier.” It forces acknowledgment without being confrontational. Also, having allies in the room who amplify your points can make a huge difference.
Women in male-dominated departments have to master the art of speaking with authority or risk being talked over. I stopped waiting for permission to speak up—I state my points directly, and if they’re ignored, I follow up in writing. Emails create a paper trail that makes it harder for credit to be stolen. Play the game strategically.
Yes, I work in a federal agency in IT where I am surrounded by all men, and I have experienced the same thing many times, I tell my managers and they do advocate for me.
Keep dates and detailed information of your experiences just in case down the road you need to show examples, but go to upper management and give them example of what happened and why it makes you feel a but less, which you never should feel that way. This is such a sensitive subject because the men I work with will go straight into denial,but we should never have to work twice as hard at the same job or project to prove ourselves but unfortunately this is the times we live in. Keep your head up and know your worth and never back down!

It happens to me and I am a man in a meeting with other men. Sometime it is just who you are dealing with. My boss doesn't actually like me so until it his or someone else's idea doesn't matter what I say.
