How’s work life balance in forensics?
I'm working in Tata Consultancy for last 9months. I got allocated to Deployment team in Kolkata. I'm a quick learner and it was my mistake to learn everything so quickly. I've been forced to work for 12hrs at least regularly. Also, I've been providing night support daily for production (yes!! Production is happening daily) but I'm not getting any overtime pay. My manager is not responding to my mails regarding my dues. What shall I do?? Will HR help me? I'm demotivated and I want to resign. 😞

I am burnt out as hell right now, it feels like this year is just compounding the “normal” issues with PA :( I am literally constantly about to panic quit. So much work and no light at the end to look forward to.
This is not normal. We had an extra three months of busy season last year, and we have an extra month starting this week. (Well, depending on what group you're in.)
Add that to WFH, which is great for some people, but not everyone. There's also a lot less separation between working and off-the-clock. I think a lot of people are burned out, and the firm has done little besides mandate that we work long hours for longer periods of time.
This ^ so much of this^
As BDO 1 said, this is not normal at all.
Everyone at every level is burned out. I’m exhausted and it’s even more exhausting to try and not let the staff see how burnt out I am and keep them motivated. No intentions of leaving my firm, they’ve done the best they can, but I’m tired.
I love the career and tax, but part of the career in public accounting is the time off, relaxation, and a lull in work. There has been none of that since January 2020.
Same. Everyone in tax at my firm is burned out as well. I've had conversations with more than one partner who agree that this is just not sustainable.
I love working at my firm but I really am frustrated with public accounting. I didn't want the extra month but was fine with it except for not changing the Q1 date. It created so much more work for us. So now we're looking at not really having much of a break until after June 15. And even then, there is so much administrative stuff that needs to be done while we're not working a deadline and before you know it, it will be August and we'll be focusing on the 9/15 deadline. This is the first year of my career where I wasn't just frustrated, but genuinely hated the profession.
Maybe try my approach just stop caring , do what you can and make it abundantly clear and straight forward that you cannot handle the workload
