Working for museums sounds like a great goal, though I imagine going after those jobs must be pretty competitive. You might want to broaden your job search and look into nonprofit organizations that might be attuned to your skills and experience. Do some research, find organizations you'd want to work for, and apply or network your way in the door.

I would focus more on transferable skills and less on the change of industry or job titles. That was one thing that was helpful when I pivoted from people management to project management. Even though it was within the same industry, the two are very different but definitely have transferrable skills between the two.
