I'm barred in Indiana (1 YOE) and moving to D.C. for my partner’s job. Federal roles(usajobs/etc..) only require any state bar, but a recruiter noted that Federal Agency/ D.C. Court jobs eventually demand local admission. (is that true?)

I lack the UBE score to waive in and refuse to retake the exam.

I want to get out of ID so badly. I don’t mind the work but the hours are just killing me. I just started at a new firm less than 6 months ago and I am already desperate to get out. I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal??
