How does everyone feel about body-cams? Necessary or not?

I feel that body-cams on police officers are necessary. It can help protect both the officer and the citizen. It can also provide evidence in the event of a disagreement or altercation.

I believe that they can help to ensure that police officers are acting in a responsible manner, and that they can help to protect the public.

With the current climate of distrust between the police and the community, I think it is important to have a way to hold officers accountable. I also think it will help protect officers from false accusations.

I think it is totally necessary, despite being a police officer and knowing that we are a big family, there are people who need to be closely watched, and if we all have to pay equally it is better, that way the civilians are safer

I feel that everything depends on the site, but I have no problem uploading my body camera, I think that everyone who feels uncomfortable with the camera is because they are doing something wrong.

They are unnecessary, it is a lack of respect for us as police officers, I know that there are some who have made mistakes, but not all of us should pay for it, there are doctors who also make mistakes, and that is why they do not always put cameras on them.

I'm not saying that they are "necessary," but they are a good thing as far as I'm concerned... because they are more reliable than eyewitness testimony and make it easier to substantiate reports. However, it's really important that every interaction be taken in its proper context. You can't just edit out the 20 minutes that a suspect was engaging in criminal activity and cherry-pick the two minutes where an officer of the law was apprehending them using whatever force was necessary.

It's just another layer of control that people want to place over us, kind of like a power trip. City councils have NO idea the kind of atrocities we encounter on a daily basis. They just think "police are bad" when they see someone being arrested and it looks like the officer is manhandling the suspect. Everything is out of balance here. Citizens don't understand our job and that isn't a putdown, just a fact.

Bodycams are an imperfect tool but they are useful in some cases. I've found that people are a lot more careful about what they say to law enforcement and how they behave if they think they're being recorded. So even when an officer doesn't have a camera, people don't know for sure. It adds accountability not just for the police, but for the general public
