Why do Black Lives Matter?
This is the crux
If you are a female educator in a public school in Texas, I have a research opportunity for you. I am a Doctoral Candidate at Baylor and doing a study on the experiences women working in the field of education have had that triggered shame and exploring their resilience to those experiences. I work in a pretty traditional community, so I just have to be really careful. Pushback mainly comes from admin.
Never from parents or students?
Unfortunately the Board of Ed in my district utilizes “alternate facts” when they dictate policy, and even more unfortunate, the majority of the people in the community, and as a result their children, subscribe to the same “politics”. We have a very small population of non-white students, and they, most unfortunately of all, experience racism. The reason I joined this bowl is to get some ideas/perspectives on how to help my students to cope and how to help the other population of students understand the consequences of their words and actions/inactions.
I do not know what you mean by "alternate facts"...

I am an Antiracist Educator. It’s part of my identity and it impacts what and how I choose to teach my students.
For example, I use culturally relevant pedagogy. There’s nothing for parents or students to push back on because it’s making connections with the students and parents on their terms.
As an Antiracist Educator, I make sure I honor different cultures and traditions, and welcome and celebrate diversity- not just the diversity in my classroom.
I ensure students learn about respecting and valuing people who look different from them.
I walk the walk and talk the talk consistently.
There is no curriculum that says it “Antiracist”. Well maybe there is but it isn’t at my school site. Being an Antiracist is a lens that guides my actions as an educator, and as a person. Everyone is embraced. I see [color and] culture and it’s beautiful.
Though I know there is only one race, the human race, it would be naive of me to pretend our society doesn’t have a racial hierarchy; It is important that I work against its impact every moment in a multitude of ways.

It may help to clearly define what is being taught, and what "pushback" is happening. If these discussions are to gain any traction, I suggest diving into the specifics.
