Hello! I am looking for two new Texas teachers (0-5 years) who would be interested in participating in a study I am doing as a Doctoral Candidate at Baylor. The study looks to understand the experiences women working in the field of education have had that triggered shame and explore their resilience. If you are interested, click the link below to get started: bit.ly/ShameResilienceStudy

That sounds like a great comment to make about a trade school, but not so much about a K-12 public school.
I teach 6th grade. At that age, I believe education should be all about learning more about yourself and the world you live in. I do not cater to “industry demands” or “global workforces” and I never will. If you teach kids how to critically analyze things, you ARE preparing them to meet the demands of tomorrow.

Thank you, Illinois!!
I am thoroughly disappointed in Sec. Cardona for this. What he is describing is not education; it’s a farm team for industry. If this were the case, why have schools? Why not just have training programs where all that’s taught is how to read a ruler, how to read manuals, and how to write directions? Are there places and a need for that? Yes, but we still need to teach kids to think critically and outside the box or the kids of tomorrow will be the placid sheep of industry and its government.
