Yes it makes sense.
Oh absolutely it does! You always need to negotiate, and especially on the total package.
What’s more valuable to you, the pay or time off/benefits?
In my mind there are 2 avenues; have them make up for benefits/PTO via pay; this affords your a higher salary and unpaid time off is always an option should you need more time in one year. But you’ll want to compared against what you have now, and assign a dollar value to it.
Alternatively, you can negotiate on the benefits and PTO if you’re happy with the pay. Is there another benefits tier with better coverage or a better premium split? Can you match my existing PTO?
My recommendation is to make a case, ensure you’re well researched and informed, you have info ready to go if they ask how you go to those numbers and be able to justify it either way. But don’t take less than your getting now unless this is your calling.
I tell everyone, always negotiate. The worst you’ll hear it no and the worst they can do is rescind the offer. You got this!! 💪
PTO can be negotiated. You didn't mention 401k?Regarding health insurance, if you live in the USA, check the ACA to see if insurance is more manageable that way. To my experience it is. Negotiations are part of getting a new job. Make a pro con list, one for current job, one for this offer and compare them. Health insurance should nevee be a deal breaker in the USA.
