I'm seeking guidance from Quantitative Finance and investment management experts on transitioning to Quantitative Investment Management roles.

I have good understanding of Fixed Income, QuantRisk, and Quant Portfolio optimization

My background : Masters Operations Research, an MBA, and CFI Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst certification. My genuine enthusiasm for investment analysis drives me, often immersing myself in Bloomberg news for hours on end.

Thanks.

Hey! Unfortunately I cannot help you, so first of all apologies for jumping into this post.

I just wanted to ask you for CFI, if it’s worth it, how much you have learnt, if it’s expensive for the content or worth the pay… for context, I want to take the capital markets course

Thank you in advance!

like

Maybe look into a good options trading course on udemy. CFI course is too vast and unless you’re trying to get the certification, it’s too much

Seeking Mentors and advice!

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?

I’m working in a large fund; market neutral public market strategy funds; am about to be recommended for a promotion to associate. However, an analyst position just opened up internally in Credit, which is where I aspire to be for the next ten years. More growth and more intellectual challenge. I’m conflicted about applying for a lateral transfer and losing out on a promotion. Will I be missing out a promotion or should I negotiate a promotion as part of my application to this role ?

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

[Help]

I started trading during Covid crash. Started with equities and eventually moved to options. Earlier lost a month's salary and then lot more trying to recover it. Currently have lost my yearly salary worth and it's affecting all aspects of my life (job, marriage, health). I have tried to convince myself to consider it a loss but always get back trying to recover it.

Any advice how to deal with it. Thanks.

Noob question on selling puts- I just sold a weekly put that I WANT to get assigned. The stock fluctuate a few dollars a day so I’m looking for a specific price to own the shares at vs entering a limit order. The stock has already gone below my selected strike price by a 30 cents today but I haven’t been assigned the shares 🤔. Is it only by expiration day or am I missing something?
