Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I got this invite shortly after. The place I’m interviewing at the job wouldn’t start til next year. I dont want to seem like a job hopper. Do i tell them I’m at a new role or just not bring it up? The acquisition was public so they can see Im no longer employed with the most recent work history on my resume

Don’t bring it up, but if they bring it up tell them you’re freelancing and leave it at that.

Wont they find out through background check ?

You're a little late if you're only prepping for your job interview the night before the interview… That is not enough time. Since it is public what is happening at your company, if they ask you why you're looking, simply say that due to the nature of what is happening in your company you thought it was best to see what else is available. If you want the job, make sure that you are telling them why you are interested in their company.

I’ve been preparing for weeks and have done a ton of interviews recently so I feel fine about how much I’ve prepped. I’ve just been debating on how i want to handle that aspect now.

You should tell them!!!

In need of advice. I am wrapping up my masters in accounting while I am working in consulting; however, I am interested in tax. I want to transfer when I finish in May but seems like all the openings posted in ToD seems to be for tax seniors and above. I have pretty strong connections with tax PPMDs but not in my local office (not looking to move). Would it make more sense for me to leave Deloitte for an associate level tax position or take my chances at an internal transfer to tax senior?

Serious question….with all of the pressure on the tech sector, companies freezing hiring, stocks down, companies cutting costs, how are things over in salesforce services? There is a lot of momentum overall for the services side of here economy (relative basis) in the US but a services division of a tech product company may be another matter. I hear salesforce is already slashing spending, cutting travel, etc. would value any views especially from the inside.

Looking for thoughts and opinions about HR involvement in employee promotions. More specifically passing up an experienced employee for not having a college degree. We have an employee in our office, who applied for a promotion and despite having a degree, would be a perfect fit. Several supervisors recommended this employee for the position but HR denied the promotion for lack of a degree. I have a graduate degree and I still feel that experience is sometimes more valuable. Thoughts?

I had an initial interview on Wednesday. About an hour later, I got a call from an internal recruiter from the same company wanting to follow up and see how the interview went. I didn’t see the voicemail until the following morning when I was at work and called her back that afternoon when I was out of work. I still haven’t heard from her. Is this normal? I'm coming to the end of a contract term and being converted to FTE.

The offer was presented to me by the hiring manager and not HR/Recruiter. To me it is a lower base salary offer than expected, so I asked for info on the total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, stock/rsu, etc.), which I was told about when they took me on under the contract with the intention to convert.

Hiring manager sends me an email with only standard benefits, no bonus, etc. Are these red flags?

I just finished an interview and the hiring manager made some comments during the interview that I believe are 🚩🚩🚩. Among the comments were, “the person needs to help show Sr. Management the FP&A dept is important and brings value.” “I’m going to be honest, we have other candidates for this position, you need to bring your game to the second interview”. The rest of the interview was describing their problems as a dept and then proceeds to ask if I can handle it. How can I respectfully decline?
