Entering my 2nd year as a medical malpractice (insurance) defense litigator. My billables are 2200 per year, even during WFH and COVID while the courts are moving very slowly. Any advice as to what I should look into for an exit? I can’t hit those billables while maintaining my sanity.

I've been struggling since February to get my WFH setup in a way that works for me. I live in a 2br apartment with my partner so clearing the extra bedroom of distractions (we used it as a video and tabletop gaming room) was an easy choice. Unfortunately my productivity is much lower than it ever was at the office. I don't really get distracted at home, but I'm not getting as much done either. Anyone else still stuck like this? My company doesn't provide budget for home office either :/

Burning out - I'm only around half a year into consulting. If I take medical leave (I have a psychiatrist) for a few months and then return and apply to other jobs, will it damage my career prospects? Will future employers immediately throw away my application?
