In need of a new way to do an Art Critique with my 7th and 8th graders. Considering maybe like JamBoard or using Google Slides. Open to all ideas.

Without knowing how you do it now, I find a post-it critique to be really helpful both during the process of a piece and at the end of a piece as a way of helping reflection. Put the work out around the room on walls or on tables, and put a blank sheet of paper next to each piece with the artist’s name on the top. Give each kid a bunch of Post its. After discussing and/or modeling good feedback have them do a gallery walk where they leave feedback on a Post it that they stick to the paper. Using the post it means they don’t have to wait for someone else to finish writing on the paper. When they’re done each artist has a sheet with a lot of feedback on it, and no one has to feel singled out for their opinions b/c it can be anonymous. Additionally you can simply pull off and discard any…*unhelpful*…feedback if anyone doesn’t commit to the exercise with a helpful tone.

Finding a good property is pretty tough in London, especially when you have preferences on what you’re looking for. Would anyone use a tool that lets you find houses akin to a google search? For example, searching ‘houses or flats with large windows, high ceilings and a parking space, within 30 minutes of Bank station for under £2000pcm’. Found this issue trawling through all the typical websites and filtering is pretty long.

I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. I have been helping him with lesson online resources & creating hyper docs for the lessons. He is struggling with the students not having a lot of supplies at home and how to have them create multiple day art pieces. he teaches at a low income area, how is everyone handling supplies to students?

What is a good all around first art activity for Kindergarten through 6 th grades that can help me get to know the kids?

Any suggestions or feelings about sending supplies home to remotes? For some units I’m not comfortable sending certain supplies. I’m looking for ideas. I’m considering building up art history and research for the remotes... perhaps more in class as well. I love art history and since I didn’t get most of my supplies I am running low because I gave to make personal kits. 😱 feeling stressed!
PLUS for some reason our students seem to have a revolving a revolving door .

What is your top favorite lesson? Mine would be one last year when I had to find the time to get into the classrooms and teach. I led a talk about the Harlem Renaissance and the kids made a jazz collage. It will be much easier with the art room back open.
