Never been an issue for me. Most companies understand that you want to leave your current job on a positive note and won't penalize you for wanting to give the two-week courtesy. If I was pressed, I'd probably just burn the bridge and start early. Doesn't seem like it should ever be necessary though. Two weeks really isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things.
That’s true I guess if they really want you they’d be willing to wait but I guess there can also be an issue of them wanting another candidate just as much who can start earlier.
It’s been a while now, but I remember a company wanting a 3-month notice period. That was insane to consider. Turns out it’s fairly common in some countries. 2 weeks shouldn’t be make or break, but a few months, definitely could see the issue.
Yeah in the UK 2 months is pretty standard and it goes up if you’ve been there a long time but I even think 2 months is too long.
More like they post it too late, just before it ends or not at all.
That’s a good way of viewing it.
Not an issue
Okay that’s good.
In the US, def not an issue. If I have an offer in hand, my new company’s opinion of me trumps whatever my current company has to say.
Oh that’s great! I wonder if it’s like that in other places too)
