Following might be the appropriate questions
1. Why are bad loans worth 2 trillion written off ?
2. Why was a bankrupt business group given 21 thousand crore defense project?
3. Why do we see only few business groups acquiring everything in India, right from PSU’s to airports, railways literally everything ?
Before we blabber and spew venom on meagre incentives given to downtrodden for their daily livelihood, is it not a right and worthy thing to question those forces who are looting the nation in the name of nationalism ??

Free market in India is just a marketing term. India has the opposite of a free market

The problem isn’t taxes.. problem is getting nothing in return for those taxes. The Government needs to focus on providing quality health, electricity, and education so that people don’t need to pay tax AND buy everything from the private sector.
Indian politics freebie bonanza is taking a toll now.
Of course. The subsidies that farmers get doesn't pay for itself. Neither do the generous allowances for ministers and bureaucrats

I always had this question: Why does India not allow joint tax filing for husband and wife? And, give tax benefits for married, those with kids, those with high number of dependent’s etc just like other countries.

I think most countries which do this want to promote families and in turn higher birth rate. Since Indian govt have been trying to suppress population growth, it doesn't make sense to give discount to families and kids.
Sorry where is the socialist part?!

Income tax isn't a socialist policy, it's pretty common in highly capitalistic countries too

So the problem isn't with tax collection part of the govt but with use of collected money.
Unfortunately, the salaried class believes they are actually in the middle of income distribution in India but rather everyone is towards upper end of the distribution. At that level you obviously give more to the govt and see less in return.
Some of the points made in the article are pretty stupid too. I have personally had subsidized education throughout including free education till 10th. So it's not entirely going to waste.
