They are too busy focused on hiring their close friends or relatives to care about training
I literally quit my job today because they kept giving me crap about not being up to speed when I’ve only been doing this job for three months. They did a horrible job of training me and they get annoyed when I ask questions cause I’m trying to learn. I spent six years doing architectural design and thought that it would be a good move to do truss designs. The niche is so small but there’s no videos out there on YouTube or anything where you can learn how to do this skill it’s very hush-hush yet they trained horribly and expect you to be a bad ass in three months.
I got fired two weeks ago after working 4 months for a company. When I interview they said they would train me how to use excel. I kept asking for the training but my boss was too busy. She was supposed to train me. So I muddled through trying to learn myself at the second month and was struggling, because it was part of my job. My boss fired me for not knowing how to use excel and it was a big part of my job for compliance Smfh…
Most companies are giving you a job not a career hope that helps
I’m that (was that 20 yr old) guy, can firmly say most of the people above my age were the first ones to leave after two weeks… it’s not an age thing it’s a personality thing when it comes to workers. As for companies it’s a let’s not eat into our profit margin so we can get big bonuses as they’re all self righteous and think they’re more important.
I agree
I’ve noticed this too. It seems employers no longer want to train employees. They would rather hire someone with years of experience
As someone who joined a job with plenty of experience even managing the same materials for the same place no amount of experience is going to train you for every system/process.
Most companies want you to fail
Most not all expect they have hands on training already but don't take in count that he or she hasn't worked in that environment before so they expect you to fail and have something against you it's the brown nosers that get pampered
My most recent employer relied on the Team to train new employees. On one occasion when i really needed help from the Manager / Leader 🤔,their response was “ I already have a Child at home “ basically stating that i was expecting to be babysat.I genuinely couldn’t believe my ears.
Rising Star
People don't stay with one company for their entire work careers anymore and companies feel reluctant to invest in employees who will use their investment to help out some other company.
I would agree but for example my company offered an apprenticeship (paid engineer degree and paid hourly while at school) to someone who has quit the company 4 times in the past 5 years and was consensually pretty useless he just turned the right knob
Yea no training . They give new people the job of training the next guy its crazy
It depends on your basic skill set and how badly they need you. One of the smarter things I did in life was to get a CDL with all of the endorsements, which means I can always get a job, even if it's not a job I really want.
I dont know how many people ive trained as their coworker. Thats tge training they get. Period. There are no trainers at my job. A day of orientation then you are put on the job
I applied to one place and I asked how do they train. And she said that they use software and videos to train you. I’m new to the workforce because my parents whom I worked for retired so when I heard that’s how they trained I was as surprised. When my parents would hire someone for the front desk, my mom would train that person herself.
One the other hand, I applied to another place and asked the same question and that employer worked in the same way my parents did when hiring. It could be that maybe each place is different 🤷♀️?
I so agree!
Its not you
Too many "unique " names for positions. MN nice is nothing new. But who said you can ask about my love preferences for a job? Or, how committed to the company you'll be?
