Hi everyone! The Environmental Education Collaborative in Southern California is hosting an online symposium Feb 25-28 (after school and weekend hours) and we would love to have you. Our topics this year include Justice, Literacy and Wellness. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be leading a "Bob Ross" style painting session on the Wellness day that teaches the steps of the water cycle while incorporating SEL strategies. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2021-environmental-education-symposium

Did this Friday for a job that i had applied to weeks ago with no response including a follow up. I showed up in person gave them my resume and they did an interview with me and hired me the same day. In an age where most employers look through applications on these apps, going in person and making yourself known is a great way to stand out from the rest!
Did this as well for T-Mobile Fiber. I walked straight through and asked for a manger with resume in hand. This is what I have to offer. Take it or leave it. Also know your value and what you can bring to the table.

I think that sounds like an awesome way to stand out! Especially for a retail environment. She may even recognize you from being in the store and the fact that you’re a customer gives you that extra edge as well.
That’s what I was hoping for 😅 I’m probably going by there on Thursday since they have cute clothes on the racks atm. Fingers crossed she’s in that day so I can give her my resume!
I don’t see why not! I’ve done this before, and was offered a causal job on the spot (bearing in mind I was only 18 and this was a while ago now). I think people appreciate your enthusiasm especially in retail environments.
I am 17 atm so I’m just looking for a part time job and retail seems like a good first for me! I’ll give them a call, your reply gives me confidence.
Walking in they can see you but I was taught not to call. Some business will take your resume and you go back to check on it. You can always ask what their policy is. Do they have a website?
They do have a website but whenever I apply I don’t really get a response at all. However, that’s a different location (the one I applied to in the past).

Well the only thing that I can say to you at this point is that it sounds like to me that the store owner is being extremely Emily retentive, especially when it comes down to a person like yourself who is seeking employment and you have brought in a resume for the store owner to read only for the store owner to make up every half-assed excuse in the world to not view your resume and check out what type of employment expertise that you have, so it's really hurting her more than it's hurting you because if she was really and truly interested in giving you a job she would have found some kind of time to read your resume and conduct a face-to-face interview with you while you're at the store and determine whether you are a good fit for the job or not. And unfortunately we have a lot of anally retentive job interviewers out there that don't show any type of consideration when it comes to someone who is really and truly looking for work, and they don't realize that it's the employees that keeps the company running and not the employer, the employer is just ahead of a snake, the employee or employees are the body of that snake, and one has to work with the other in order for both to work together as a unit. So the only advice that I have for you whoever you are is to find another employer that will take the time to read your resume whether you have a physical resume on you or whether you have a resume on one of those job search websites and if, and only if an employer is really and truly interested in giving you a chance to work for them then make it happen otherwise, I would suggest for you to try employment agencies or staffing agencies or go to your state's Department of Labor and see if they can help you find work, good luck, God bless and have yourself a wonderful and very pleasant early Monday morning. 👼🏿🙏🏿😇✝️✌🏿✊🏿💙💯
I wouldn't even ask if they were hiring, instead I was just walk in and tell them I would like to submit a resume for any positions that they have available now or in the future. They should be willing to accept it either way.
Make sure it gets in the proper hands. If you don't try you'll never know.

Most definitely isn't weird !!!!! Go the extra mile by all means necessary
Be weird
Calling Before Applying also helps you save what would be wasted time . its again old fashioned but effective
This is what I have been doing since my parents retired. I’ve been around to 4 or 5 places. I haven’t tried the calling and asking tho. That’s a good idea tho.
I’ll give it a shot this week. It can’t hurt to ask I guess! Also good luck with your calls if you do so.
That’s not weird lol
not really
I feel like asking in person makes you seem like you actually want the job, which bosses tend to like. But with everything online nowadays it feels like people tend to find going in person weird somehow.
I prefer doing that after I apply several days later or before I apply.
If you're unemployed how can you afford to go shopping pretty often ? Do you live with your family or have a lot of savings in the bank or on Unemployment Insurance?
I live with family I am 17 years old 😅
No harm, no foul. Whatever it takes. Within reason.

Bring it and give it directly to her
No, it's not weird at all. It's called showing enthusiasm and initiative. If you are placing your CV in the owner's hand personally, then you know that she has definitely received it and there is a chance that she will read it.
