Is it worth moving to London? I heard it is very expensive, lower pay, high taxes. I am a single female professional. I thought I wanted to explore and travel but I’m not sure if it’s worth moving to London if I end up broke.

If you’re coming from India of course it will be more expensive. Common sense. But yes, worth it to discover the western world for your first time.

So I actually do think it’ll depend on where you’re moving from simply because your perspective on COL will be different, as will your priorities. I’m saying this because I considered moving from NYC but then decided against it because the pay cut I would end up taking didn’t seem proportionate to the lower COL vis a vis NYC. That perspective would probably have been different if I was moving from another city / country. It’ll also depend on the level of comp of your London opty

It really depends on where you currently are, what your plans are and how can moving to London help you to achieve that.

This. I only recommend living in London to two groups of people: (1) Those who genuinely really want to be here, and (2) Those who want a career that starts in London, given how many of the jobs are here.

But there are jobs in other parts of the UK, and if you don't care too much what job you end up with, be sure to weigh in other factors too! The UK has some amazing places. I'm personally leaving London for Scotland at the end of this month because I finally gave up on my "Big Dream" of working in Westminster and have decided I'll work whatever job I can find if it means I can own a house and get to go hiking in the mountains on weekends.

I’ve lived in HK, Tokyo, NYC and London and Londons objectively the best cosmo city to live in - depends on what are you optimizing for. If it is QoL then London wins 100%. Money not so much….

Agree with this. London is so beautiful. I always chuckle when Brits say London is a dump. They’ve never lived in North Philly or the West side of Chicago. 😆

London is fun for young single women , but only for a short while. If you want to enjoy fast life , meet people who are doing the samw as you, exploring london together. I dont recommend it longterm. Its filled with people with bad mental health.

As if rest of the world is not! Welcome to capitalism.

PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?
