Prob a dumb move

Dumb probably but with oncycle still yet to come, want to make sure im 100% happy with my choice before accepting

OP it’s not typical to do, usually during the on cycle process you have to order your interviews in your preferences such that if you get an offer you take it and pull out of other processes. Given the situation is weird with on cycle being pushed back and some misc off cycle happening now I think you could decline but it would likely burn a bridge with that head hunter so definitely need to consider that aspect as well.

Haha there’s no preserving, even in on cycle if you get an offer and turn it down you burn that HH
I don’t think crazy to reach out to HHs for funds you’re more interested in to see if they can do an accelerated process in the next few days. Unlikely they’ll want to given holiday but who knows- HH might be interested because you having an offer from another reputable fund gives some leverage p

Yeah unfortunately I’m mostly waiting for oncycle to kick off as 90% of the top funds go through it to fill their spots. And it seems still no one is sure about timing
Send me the offer then pls
I would say take it unless you’re positive that you’ll get an offer somewhere else. The unemployment #s and competition is high. Why not jump now and change later?

Mm i guess so. I feel relatively confident in myself. I think I’d rather live with the knowledge that I took a shot at the best funds and failed than wonder what if
Very Unpopular opinion but u could accept and rescind if u got smth better. Risky though but maybe ok if the fund u got an offer at is small or different geo

Unfortunately I don’t think thats a risk I want to take. Buyside is extremely small and everyone knows everyone
Honestly I think at this point you take it- if it’s a good firm and you like the people and it’s where you want to live- I don’t know if it’s worth playing the hope game of getting a better offer. I think the asc role is great for learning and seeing how this world works, and if it’s a reputable shop you’re going to get that no matter what. The added prestige or pay between firms is extra on top but won’t change your life
You have to do what is right for you, if it is not the right fit then don’t accept.
