Any thought on comp for a Valuations Sr Associate / VP with ~8 YOE at a mega fund?

What are the best software / tech conferences? Less focus on the startup stuff, more mature buyout / growth preferred.

How do you calculate IRR for a write off? Is it just 0% or should it go negative? There’s no cash moving after the initial investment so not sure what to do.

Interviews with a private credit / direct lending / distressed real estate group have been going on for 6 weeks and now I’m waiting for the the final decision. They said that they’ll review the case studies and make a decision soon but does anyone know how soon :((( I’m so tired and exhausted and I really want the job so much. Technical was last week and last interview was yesterday. It’s a reputable American company - how likely is it that they’ll make a decision in 2 days?

I have a VC/GE interview coming up (phone screen) and personally don’t know much about the space , it’s just an area that has always seemed interesting.

How unrealistic is finding a MM firm that averages ~60-65 hours a week?

Suggestions on how to spend the next year before starting MM PE gig? Don’t have a lot of modeling experience, any tips on prepping or is it mostly learning on the job?

A large part of my job involves building models or making reports that involve copying numbers from one document to another. Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I lose my train of thought and make mistakes in getting the right number. Nothing disastrous has happened, but I’m trying to figure out how to get better at not losing my train of thought when doing work that basically involves looking up numbers from various documents. Any suggestions?

Anyone know about the VC fund Next Coast Ventures?

Is it possible to make a transition to VC (ideally senior associate / vp role) after a two year Associate stint in MM PE? I worry that the prior interest in moving late stage will be frowned upon by early stage investors among other issues

Interested to hear thoughts. 3 months of interviews (16 or so), presentations, in person meets. Moved to offer on a senior role. They changed their mind for the other candidate post verbal and ref checks. Anyone seen this? What happened?
