It has been about three years since I graduated from college, and I still have not found a job in my field. I was so worn out when I left school that I sort of went off the wagon, but I'm slowly getting back on. Putting together my portfolio and actually looking has been a slow process, but I am hopeful that I will find a home. Hey, at least I have finally modified my resume.

It took me about 7 years to learn what my degree was good for, and it’s been another 3+ watching this industry, where I thought I might finally apply it, sorta fall apart. 🤷‍♂️ hang in there.

Terrible time to begin a career in advertising. As bad as 2008. Explore doing anything else with your skillset first. Sincerely

It’s been a tough few years. A lot of us who have come into the business recently have struggled. I was out of advertising for a year, and I’m still finding my footing half a decade after graduating.

Try to find a partner to work with to keep building your book. You can motivate each other, and you’ll have someone to commiserate with.

Also keep growing your network. So far, I’ve gotten almost every opportunity of my career through LinkedIn.

Got offered a role at a Middle East office at BCG - haven't accepted yet.
Anyway that I can transfer to a north American office (my current location) before I join? SO can't move to Dubai and while applying they didn't interview me for my current location just for the Dubai one.

I understand this may be a big ask, and I'm happy to interview again if need be.

Hi Fishes!

I am currently working on SAP CPI,PIPO,CPI-DS (basically Integration as a whole) development (also attend Support issues regularly) with experience of around 1 year. My leads are quite happy with my works.

For career growth, what shall be my ideal path ahead?
1. Only concentrate on Integration
2. Continue Integration for some years, then switch to Functional modules (in this case, after how many years should I ideally switch)

And what shall be the ideal time to switch companies?

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

I really think that some large holding companies are ever gonna force us back into the office. My ECD is based on the east coast. All three of the ACD/CD teams they hired in the past six months are east coast based. Our office is in the central time zone. Yet every job posting says “in person”. Seems like they just don’t want to advertise their hiring remote for the attractive accounts.

The hiring process is dated and exhausting

a. No less than 3-5 interviews. If you’re in tech, that final “on-site” is likely a test or presentation equivalent to hours of work.
b. Then, the thank you notes to eeeevvveerrryyyooonnee you interviewed with
c. The anxiety-ridden waiting game
d. The offer + negotiations
e. References
f. Background check

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .
