You are right. I have done that already.
If a coworker threatened you, of course you should report it. Even if nothing comes of it, something like that should be put on the record. Depending on the nature of the threat it could be a potentially serious situation.

I have talked my manager about that and I am already in the process of speaking with HR too. This colleague stepped out of the line and I guess it makes sense to report him.

DO NOT let it go. For your own safety, both personal and job-based. You need to make sure your version is out there, in case this employee decided to try to report you, and make you look like the offending party.
And it's not just banking. In almost every industry, employees think there should be different rules for them when they are customers.
