New hire commandeered my office chair

May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

I haven't experienced it personally since I'm still working on site 5x/week. I know it's happening though. I saw two open roles posted by my company. Same job, only difference was remote vs. on site. Remote range was like 15% lower.

It’s concerning to see such a pay gap for the same role based on location. Hopefully, more companies will address this issue! Thanks for sharing!
This is a question of how companies will deal with people working in different locations. Should somebody in a high-cost-of-living area be paid the same as somebody in a low-cost area? There isn’t an easy answer.

You’re absolutely right! It’s a tricky balance to strike. Cost of living does play a big role, and finding a fair solution is definitely a challenge.

Yeah, remote work has totally flipped the script on salary talks. It's fascinating (and sometimes frustrating) how location is playing into it now. I haven't experienced it but from what I've seen in trends lately, companies are all over the map with this. A lot of them around 70% (based on recent reports) are still doing location-based adjustments, meaning if you move to a lower cost-of-living area, your pay might get tweaked downward to "match" the local market.
It's supposed to be fair in terms of cost of living, but it can feel like a penalty for wanting that flexibility, especially if you're doing the exact same work as someone in a big city.
In my "conversations" with people going through offers or reviews, the big change is that salary negotiations now often include pushing back on location adjustments or asking about future policy changes. If a company's strict on geo-pay, folks are more likely to shop around for ones that aren't.

You’ve hit the nail on the head! It’s definitely frustrating to see location affecting pay like that. Flexibility shouldn’t feel like a penalty, and it’s encouraging to hear people are speaking up during negotiations!
