I think you need to determine the value of your time and then estimate how long it takes to do one of these cases. AOS with the 944 should cost more because it’s a lot more analysis plus longer forms and much more documentation. I’m at a big firm and we charge between $4-$5.5k for an I-130/I485, plus extra for the 944 plus costs for FedEx, copies, and translations. Definitely charge extra for RFEs if they are due to a client created issue (like the client could only provide a short form birth certificate). Having said that make sure you have in your mind what would be the lowest you would charge for clients who request discounts and don’t ever settle for less.
Thank you very much for your insight on this! I really appreciate it. It seems I may not be charging enough. It is kind of difficult when you want to get and retain clients, but don’t want to be outbid by someone else. That is really where my struggle lies. I’ll think more about charging for RFEs since I haven’t been doing that up to this point. I usually include that in my flat fee quote but you make a valid point about whether it is client caused or not. Thank you again for your response! It has given me much to consider
