I’ve received an offer from Accenture, but it’s even lower than my current salary. The HR mentioned that as per their process, I first need to accept the current offer, and only then they’ll release a revised one based on my counteroffer.

I’m not sure if this is a genuine process or just an HR trap.
Has anyone faced a similar situation or can guide me on how to proceed?
