I can't speak to when it's time to leave since I've only worked in employment law, but it's such an interesting area of the law to practice. I rarely find myself doing the same thing from day to day, and no two cases are alike, so it constantly keeps you on your toes. I've also found that it's generally a great community to work in.
I was in commercial lit and was slow and one of the l&e partners needed help with employment lit stuff. I started working with him and realized how much more interesting this area of law is and never looked back!
Every case is different and it’s generally a fun area of the law (as fun as the practice of law can be I guess). Interesting facts in all kinds of industries.
My first job out of law school was in employment law, and I just stuck with it. It’s a stable, sturdy area economy-wise and a good path to in-house. So I don’t have any plans of moving to another.
