Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! I wouldn’t mind going into the office 8 days a week if I also made $40M+. And not just compensation, his life must be really stimulating, interesting and fun.
I 100% get it. He just doesn’t realize what it is to live off 100k in NYC or other metro areas working for JPMChase having to commute >1h each way every day.
On the sleeping bag, honestly yes, last year our back office team was doing 50 hours a week. After layoffs and a big increase in asks (multiple before end of day fire drills daily) we’re working 80 just to make sure nothing breaks. Can do this for a bit but anyone who likes getting a 35% real pay cut let me know if you’re interested in an ops role, we’ll have plenty open soon… unless this is how they move my team to Mumbai
The insults will continue until morale improves! Seriously, I wouldn't care what rotten stuff he says about his own employees. But a lot of people take him seriously as a celebrity CEO, and his words tend to hold weight all over the business world. Shouldn't be that way, but that's the reality of it.
Bitter comeback, boomer’s older brother. Luigi will be popular in prison, and that’s the end of it, but you can dream, hope you are looking forward to RTO. Go Gorman 🙌

I find all this Jamie bashing to be extremely shortsighted. I lived through the days when JPM was led my Sandy Warner, and we got bought by a retail bank, it was a sad state. Now, JPM is the most powerful bank in the world and it has a lot to do with Jamie’s leadership. He is worrying about how to keep JPM at the top, and not about hurting feeling because people have to go back to the office now.
No, it has to be the first, nobody cares about a silver medal. I can be the first AND have a life, not mutually exclusive, if you can’t, look into your time management skills.
It made me want to go work for him! I want real leadership with a no nonsense approach towards our business and execution. We waste our merit pools and bonuses on low performers or mediocre talent while the top talent carries the entire team.
I like the no nonsense way… work hard, go far! But that isn’t the norm these days either. I see low performing people get promoted and the answer is that they are strategic. Not the case, they want the people that crank to stay in those roles… never getting promoted even though they get fantastic reviews
I’ve always said if I ever went to work for a big bank it would be JPM and it’s because of Jamie Dimon. There’s a reason they made it out of ‘08 relatively unscathed compared to their counterparts.
He is the best CEO for banks.
Where did everyone learn that remote work is equal to in office collaboration? Sure there are rolls that can do it, but the majority of progress is made together, not alone.
You’re just mad that you can’t stream Netflix shows while “working”
Also- I could be wrong, there will definitely be some studies done over the next decade comparing the progress made by mostly remote companies compared to mostly in-person workplaces. My money is on the in-person work. Strongly.
Does Jamie take the subway to Park Ave or does he get chauffeured with private security?
He has body guards.
Controversial take (though probably not by looking at some of the comments), but I kinda agree with him. You don't get far in a lot of fields without being present and actually caring.
Right but a lot more of this has to do with overstaffing, which I am surprised hasn’t been brought up here or in the media. The headcount freeze was made before the RTO plan was green lit. He’s hitting financial targets, that he passionately dislikes remote work just makes it more convenient.
‘Rolls’ … maybe learn to spell first
VP2- Sorry for misspelling 1 word. Or maybe it was autocorrected. I really don’t care.
You can comment back something with substance if you have it
He’s still peeved from being passed over for Treasury Sec multiple times
Jesus dude ‘rolls’ was the first one but then ‘gosh I hope there will be a study over the next decade’ like companies haven’t been tracking this since day 1 and there haven’t been numerous studies over the last 3-4 years talking about wfh productivity.
Seriously??? And you think they’re bringing people back after finding out remote work is better??? I’m giving people the benefit of the doubt with that part of my comment but you’re a moron. You must be a bank VP where everyone gets the title with a few yrs of work.
