What should I aim to become 4-5 years down the line ? Currently I m doing selenium automation testing with 8 yoe. Have experience in uft, api and desktop application automation and some of the devops application as well. And lots of other related knowledge and exposure. Should I aim to become Automation architect ? Solution architect is also for us ? What does solution architect do ?

I’m a solar electrician at sunrun. I focus mainly on energy storage systems such as Tesla batteries. Currently making 93k a year with Lots of OT that push me into 150k a year. High stress job and high reward. At 31, I feel I could keep up with the long hours but I know eventually it will have to stop as it’s not sustainable long term. I thought about joining the union after this but I’m afraid it might not be what it used to be. Can anyone tell me their experience as journeyman electrician there

I worked on a job that shot months ago with a foreign agency. They shot in the US but took the post abroad with an in-house agency producer. Production overages were never paid, talent was never paid. (Union job...) I’ve been off the job for months but have also spent months making photo calls, apologizing to agents and the EP... my emails to the agency go unanswered. I don’t know what to do at this point... anyone else ever had this? Any advise?

Why have unions become so powerless in recent years? A decade ago, the collective bargaining units would get wage increases that matched or exceeded inflationary growth. Now we are lucky to see any positive integer offered.

Realistically, if they are merely securing my job for $100/month they are not providing value! I can protect my own job, AND pay for a decent retirement with that money saved.

Mortgage strategy question: moving from HCOL to MCOL city, selling current house and buying a new one. Will net enough equity from the sale for up to 20% down payment. How do you think about mortgage rates, points, PMI, etc for the new purchase? I'm in favor of putting less down and investing the difference, but not if the terms are worse.

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. Has anyone here made partner after having children at their law firm? I’ve gone through two maternity leaves at my firm and am getting the impression that because my “numbers” (billables, revenue etc.) haven’t been as good as other associates who do not have children (or stay-at-home help for their families), I won’t be put up on time. Just started my first job at a mid size firm. Still awaiting bar results. The firm practices general civil lit - mainly defense (ID, prem liability, labor law, tort defense etc.) but some partners do plaintiff’s work too. So far they’ve had me working mainly on ID cases.
