Junior litigation associate here looking to leave my v5 firm to begin my own plaintiff side class action practice. I’d love to talk to seasoned plaintiff litigator to tell me why I am being unrealistic or what I need to watch out for. Who wants to burst my bubble? I’m grateful for any input!

Class action cases take time to “mature” (ie, make money for you). You’ll need some bread and butter in the meantime, which means dealing with actual plaintiffs rather than just signed postcards. If you’ve never worked with plaintiffs, you’re in for a treat, not everyone is cut out for it. Oh, and then there’s the whole conundrum of actually GETTING cases. They don’t materialize as easily as people think. Also, without a good mentor, very easy to screw up.

Clawback clause in current contract: been in role for over 2 yrs, it was an internal move that required relocation. Relocation was approved shortly after (over 2 yrs ago) but covid meant the actual move and start of my contract with new subsidiary was delayed, I was paid by the previous subsidiary meanwhile. I got small relocation package. Would internal move be subject to a buy-out/clawback clause if I leave now and if yes, is it time in role or time under new contract? Any experience? Thanks!

I just got a job offer for an Entry Level Software Engineer at Boeing in Saint Louis. The salary is $82,000 with an $8,000 sign on bonus. I was hoping for an offer closer to 90k base and I don’t care too much for a sign on bonus. However, this is a lot more than what I’m making now, and would be my first SWE job. Should I counter? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

Would love to know what other Plaintiffs attorney thoughts are regarding Mercury. I practice in CA, and it’s generally known that Mercury is terrible in terms of settling. Liability not at issue? Meds reasonable? Fanf**kingtastic, let’s not settle and spend money and time on mediation. Just wondering, do PI attorneys from other states have similar thoughts vis a vis Mercury? Or is Mercury just flipping the bird to all Californians to spite the 20+ million fine CA has imposed?
