So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

They still should have given the people the choice. Why teachers had to get the jab when we were remote for nearly two years was an egregious overstep and taking of our liberties. Kids did not need to get it and schools didn't need to be closed down . Never let a good crisis go to waste.
The government used the crisis to expand their authority. It happened after 9/11 with the creation of TSA and Homeland Security and it happened under Covid -
Looks like an interesting article, too bad it’s behind a paywall.
There were 2 main reasons for widespread vaccination against Sars-Cov2 and isolating while the vaccines were validated …teachers over 50 (of which there were quite a few) who were at greater risk from students coughing and sneezing all over them, and the fact that people harboring the virus are ideal incubators for generating mutant strains, which would make developing an effective vaccine nearly impossible. As for those people who complain about personal liberties and making sacrifices for the greater good, I’d like to remind them that Americans sacrificed plenty during WW2, including precious civil liberties. We were at war with a virus instead Axis nations, but the number of lives at stake were arguably greater. What happened to Americans ability to sacrifice for the greater good? I guess many were too selfish and accustomed to the good life to be even slightly inconvenienced!
To High School School Social Studies Teacher,
I know full well the impact pandemic restrictions had on students, as they severely impacted my family. And yet I wasn't about to argue about them with my teacher colleagues, several of whom died from COVID exposure. That would have been like challenging them about taking sick days for themselves. If anything, the lack of effectiveness of remote learning proved how important schools and teachers are to social and learning development of students across the country.
Despite all the antivax hysteria and misinformation spread about the new vaccines, we achieved a high enough vaccination rate to significantly slow the spread of the most virulent strains. Now COVID has become like the flu, IMO. Not so deadly but at least we have effective vaccines that blunt the impact.
