At 2yo I think it's safe to skip a nap here and there..
Yeah - it’s just that this is the first one of his class (at a new school) so we feel obliged to go, but it just irks me that they scheduled it right during the school-mandated nap time
I would skip the party personally. That’s pretty inconsiderate in my opinion. My kids have never been ready to skip naps until 3/3.5.
Right?! And for it being a thing where they’re inviting class mates knowing the school has them all napping starting at 12n.. we’ll go it was just an odd thing I wasn’t sure if is normal or just me
Yeah my kids love routines and this has happened to us. I think you just have to accept the melt down coming and go.to.the party
My 2 year old skips his nap once in a while. Nothing happens, just falls asleep quicker in the evening.
My kids school routines are 12-2 naps but at home we usually nap at 1. I’m surprised they would do a party during their child’s nap window (presuming their child is on the same schedule as your since they are classmates).
Go if you want to and then plan to leave whenever yours get tired. You don’t have to be there the whole party. Or skip if it’s too disruptive to your day or your kids routine.
If not convenient for you, it's fine to say no. Also fine that they scheduled it at a time that worked for them, there's no reason to be irked about it.

Can you not go?
2 year olds aren’t refusing to nap early, they’re just not tired early because their wake windows are longer. For my son (2.5 years old) I push off the nap and do a shorter one 1-2 hours later to bridge to bedtime. Not too long because then wake window is too small to bedtime.
My kid can usually keep going and grab a short nap in the car on the way home. Maybe move bedtime up a touch, and get used to things being scheduled over nap time.
Was it the only time they could get the venue? Only you know your kiddo - my kids needed routine, so I would skip. If you really want to get to know other parents, set up a play date another time.
Id ask to come late and cut nap a little shorter.
Just reach after nap - if the party is still on.
