The partner I work with wants me to dictate everything for the secretary to type. I feel that I am better at typing and more productive typing my work out. I have never dictated anything in my life and don’t think I would be very efficient or effective at it, I also hate the sound of my own voice. He keeps trying to push me into dictating but I want to type my stuff out, I do not think I am that slow at typing my work etc and I am getting assigned tasks done so I do not see a difference.

I was approached for a potential job by a recruiter. In the informational meeting they mentioned that the hiring manager and I are connected. I decided to reach to this person expressing interest and letting them know a recruiter would be submitting my resume. Per the recruiter that may not look well, for me personally I would like to know if any candidate is particularly interested. Is it right or wrong to reach out?

How does your office handle late patients when it's weather/road related? We had a patient show up 10 minutes late and threw a hissy fit because he had driven 40 miles on snowy roads to get there. And I felt bad, but we legitimately could not squeeze him in.

I really like finance, but I want to be a sole proprietor. Any ideas of what I can do besides making my own hedge book?

What do you think social security benefits will look like in the future?

I'm working in a company that I like, but I'm been quite underpaid. We recruited a new recruiter with a salary 25% more than the one I'm in. I've been approached by other companies, but I wouldn't like to leave, the only reason I would consider moving to a new job is the salary. Should I be open and discuss it with my LM? The formal salary review process is approaching in 2 months, but no way I could get a good salary increase in the formal process, I believe the max could be 6%-7%.

What's your opinon on pay walls? I get why they are necessary but even an editor, I find them annoying sometimes!

I started a new company in August as a recruiter. After a month I was moved into a Talent Acquisition Manager position. It all seems great but I have a boss who comes resounds to me when she wants to and doesn’t when she doesn’t. But when she responds she comes in with yelling at me. I get paid $90k with potential of $95 in two months. I handle recruitment, employee relations and onboarding. I’m not sure if this company is a great fit. Advice from recruiters needed on explaining second unemployment period due to 2 layoffs in 4 years. The first time I set up a small biz which did minimal business. Covered first 7 month layoff period without fully disclosing my inactivity. Are recruiters starting to catch on to “Name, LLC” as a euphemism for “unemployed”?

How can you stay professional and avoid coming across as nervous while interviewing someone who scares or intimidates you?
