Our Philadelphia-area boutique firm whose practice works exclusively with nonprofits and charities is hiring due to growth. Tax is the basis of Exempt Org work. That is why I am posting here. Great practice working to further charitable missions of our clients. Good WLB (1300 hour billable requirement). Opportunity for the right person to work remotely. Start at a smaller firm. You can learn and grow faster and build your brand before moving to a big 4. Especially now. Big 4s are all laying people off especially at the analyst level. Been in the business for 18 years. Trust me. It’s never been this volatile at the big boys.
Do you recommend I should get some experience as an analyst and then move over to big 4 in a year?
Currently an analyst rn, campus hire from 2022. You would be considered as a campus hire but think applications are too late now to start within the next couple months. U should prob start at industry and then come to consulting. But being an analyst is a breeze; work life balance is great
How can I transfer from industry to consulting best with 1 YOE oafter college?
It’s a lot more difficult coming in as an lateral hire, but possible.
Network hard, learn how to do case interviews, and monitor the applications. The market is pretty bad right now for lateral hiring but hopefully picks up in 1-2 years.
What kind of consulting are you hoping to do at T2 / B4? Usually lateral hires have a bit of a specialty compared to campus hires who usually come in as “generalists”
I want to specialize in healthcare, but am fine with generalist positions
UT Austin experienced hire here. If you value your work life balance, start in industry and come back to consulting at the C or SC level
Because generalists do all of the PMO and grunt work + pick up some work streams and SMEs focus on one workstream and do none of the former. D2 is on point.
- Disgruntled generalist
Reach out to alumni or classmates in those roles and get a referral. Hiring isn’t in a great spot right now but hopefully it’ll turn around by the time you’re looking to jump ship
That's what I am doing right now. I am just getting connections with alumni and applying.
Go to industry.
If you want to do healthcare look at ZS. I worked there for a year and had a good experience. Solid starting comp too
