Sigh, exactly. I don’t understand why everything has to be a call. I won’t remember 90% of the details we’re going to talk about. I will try hard to listen but inevitably (very quickly) get distracted and no pay attention. I will try not to sound like an idiot so I won’t ask questions. Just put it in an email so we can all have the benefit of going back and looking at it multiple times. Give folks an opportunity to thoughtfully ask and answer questions instead of feeling like we’re on-call in law school again.
Apologies for the rant, been experiencing soooo much of this as of late. And I’m tired.
No, because if your emails are ever discoverable, it's going to be a real mess.
Better than the spontaneous call
This. One of my partners is the time to call you spontaneously 45 times a day (each call ranging anywhere from 10 seconds to 1+ hours). On principle, I try to never call my juniors spontaneously, usually ask for their availability at least over Skype.
The internal scream? The long sigh? Yes, I can relate! Hahaha
