Maybe a cover letter outlining why you’d want to work for that company. Knowing the values and mission of the company and showing genuine interest in wanting to work for them could be a big plus
Oh no! I hope you get something soon, good luck
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate it!
Former IKEA co-worker here — the biggest thing I’d suggest is tailoring your application to the exact role instead of applying broadly with the same resume. IKEA tends to care a lot about customer focus, teamwork, reliability, problem-solving, and understanding the values. Use examples from EG Australia that show helping customers, handling busy periods, following process, resolving issues, and working well with a team.
If you’re getting rejected before interview, I’d also check that your availability matches what the store needs, your resume is simple and ATS-friendly, and your answers clearly connect to the job posting. A short cover letter can help, but only if it’s specific — not generic.
Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown. Really appreciate you taking the time. Tailoring each application and tying my EG experience to IKEA's values makes sense. I'll rework my resume and cover letter with this approach. Genuinely helpful advice, thank you.
Hope you get something soon!!
