Lately have noticed how much politics play in our industry. I also have seen how being genuinely humble and “nice”doesn’t help you get respect or promotions. And how you truly have to play the game. Truly sucks but is what it is. This video was a great refresher of how office politics work. And reminder that I need to read 48 laws of power ASAP. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwi7sg0e4-w

It's just reality that office politics, or whatever one wants to call it, does play a big part in the industry. It's always puzzling on the surface to see how some people just manage to consistently fail upward, it's like they're able to skate by on personality rather than talent. All you can do is learn to play the game. In fairness, a lot of office politics comes down to just being personable, though there can be some real Machiavellian characters in any organization.
There are some real sharks out here who are in it to kill. Gotta watch out and arm yourself for sure and play the game
Sometimes you do have to play the game to get to your goals. Not being humble and borderline self-deprecating about accomplishments was a big hurdle to me. If you can’t put yourself in a good light, nobody else will.
Yea. Unfortunate when humility is one of your top values and literally HAVE to against it, to get any kind of success
