I just made the switch to my new firm about 3 months ago and the partner and I have not gotten along. I’m a second year in lit, and most of his associates are more senior so he expects us to run point but during the interview I told him I still need a little mentoring. Now, every misstep I make he kills me for it. Should I make a move now or wait it out hoping it gets better?

I know we are all on edge rn- how could we not be? but I’ve had it with how rude and inhumane people are being to each other right now. I’m just trying to help. Why can’t we all be more flexible? I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

I’ve been working 12 hours a day minimum since I was 11 years old .. so now 12 hour days feel like play for me. Also put me infront of a screen for 24 hours and I won’t move until I need to go to sleep . I have been like that since I was a kid so now it’s in my blood. I never felt I was working. I’m always curious and my mind goes 1000 miles an hour . What about you? Do you feel it’s work and CBF after 8 hours? Or you feel it’s your hood and you can’t have enough of it?

Remind me what it’s like working for a firm where people know how to use technology? Nobody at my firm knows how to use zoom. They don’t know how to share a screen. So they use their phone camera and it’s lopsided and shaky.

Any other staff feeling like they might try to leave audit earlier than they planned to? Love my firm, but WFH is brutal and the people I’ve formed connections with have mostly left or WFH 99% of the time which leads to less social interaction with them. I figured I’d stick it out for 3 years or so, but with another busy season looming in a few months I’ve started looking at other roles through my network, and wasn’t sure if I was the only one.

People are saying it’s rare to get covid if you’re vaccinated (most recently 1 in 1000 breakthrough cases for MA) but isn’t that directly attributable to far less testing done now? I can understand it’s rare to be at risk for hospitalization, but do we really know how many people are asymptomatic and still spreading?
