Anytime you are being given additional work during that conversation you need to ask what needs to be D prioritized in order to take these for additional tasks on? And then follow up with an email so you have a paper trail. Otherwise that continues to happen and you’re where you are. Especially if they disappear. By disappearing did you mean they were on PTO, they were at work, but you just didn’t see them?

Oh all the time. The most annoying is when people DO offer you that help, but only because they feel like they have to, and the support they do give is patronising and half hearted. I just try my very best to be in a position where I don't have to ask for that help, or ask someone else.

Can someone help me understand how backdoor Roth works in my situation?

I contribute the $19.5K max to a 401K each year. Would backdoor Roth be (A) the ability to roll $6K of that $19.5K into a Roth? or (B) an incremental $6K that I could contribute to a separate IRA then backdoor into a Roth?

Asked another way, does backdoor Roth allow me to actually contribute $25.5K each year, or does it just allow $6K of my $19.5K contribution to build in a Roth?

I was once at a dinner with a second year analyst, consultant, and partner, and the analyst said he planned on retiring by 30 and the partner and consultant laughed. Little did they know, the analyst owned his own home and rented all the rooms out so he payed no rent, never ate out, only grocery shopped, and very very rarely bought anything new. He saved most of his income, and was perfectly content with just his video games. That man was serious about not being stuck working forever.
