Looking for Creative Ideas:
A Male friend helped me with advice on negotiating comp at my new job and reviewing my contract. I’d like to get him a thank you gift. Normally I would have gone with a nice bottle of scotch. But interested in a non alcohol gift. Any ideas?

My go to gift is finding something local! Coffee is great, something from a bakery or a gift card to a nice restaurant with a hand written note thanking him for the support.

Anyone out there in Fishbowl-land ever have to draw their service weapon? I know some guys who have been cops for years and never been in that situation, but I want to know how likely it is that it will happen while I’m on the job.

With the holidays fast approaching, I can't help but wonder why I've pigeonholed myself into a career path that keeps me away from family at crazy hours and days. I miss birthdays, holidays; you name it. Three years in, I can see why divorce rates are so damned high.

Thank you for starting this bowl! I just turned 50. I had my one and only child at 41 and went straight into menopause. My symptoms were perhaps confused with postbpatrum and nursing hormone symptoms but bow my hair is dry and frizzy yet somehow also oily and my skin lacks luster and I gain weight so easily. Working from home for eight months has definitely hanged my body shape and not for the better!

Hi,
I graduated last year and was working with my university until last month. I extended my STEM OPT with my university before July 5th (first year OPT expiry). I got a new opportunity right after submitting my application & I notified my change in employer (submitted updated I-20 & I-983).
Last Friday, I got another opportunity that is way better than the current one and I don't want to miss. My STEM OPT application is still under review. Would it be okay if I change my employer again. Thanks!

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

I work in an internal strategy group at Deloitte in the part of our business we refer to as “enabling areas”. We “borrow” people all the time from Deloitte’s Consulting practice (e.g., on short or longer term rotations paying an internal hourly rate to Consulting) to support our internal strategy projects, and I know other internal teams do this too. Do the internal teams do this at PwC? Hubby is on the bench at Strategy& and I keep telling him to look into this as an option…
