Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.
I’m already exhausted 🥱

If you’re with for EY, I wouldn’t recommend going that far to the east. If you’re with any of the other B4, GT or BDO, Lakewood/White Rock is great. Good proximity to downtown, Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville while managing to be a little more lowkey. I’m maybe 5 mins down the road from those buildings; Bluffs of Lakewood would be my recommendation. Happy to answer any questions you may have about the area!
I live a little closer towards downtown on Gaston, my commute to KPMG is about 10-15 mins; if I worked at BDO, my commute over to Plaza of the Americas would look similar. Drive down Gaston and it’ll put you right into downtown, more or less.
Personally I enjoy the fact that I can drive into the office without taking the highway. Based on the area/buildings you’re considering, I’d tack another 5 minutes into those figures.
As far as other recommendations go, Winstead at White Rock, is a nice building. Tension at White Rock is also a solid option. I’m pretty sure there’s another few buildings around there that are in various phases of construction to recently open.
Moving to Dallas and would sincerely appreciate any advice.
My GF lived at Tenison at the lake - great apartments for a decent price. I think she was paying 1300 for a 900 sq ft apartment. The location was nice for living - that area of town is not usually crowded, you have pretty easy access to the lake and the Lakewood area (great restaurants, nicer shopping centers). It's not so great for a commute, I-30 can be a rough drive even if it is only 3 miles away from downtown. The apartment itself was nice, I really liked it. I can't speak to management or anything of that nature. However, I know recently they had some issues with the water system and electricity (a storm in the spring rolled through and knocked out power in all east dallas). And its decently safe, not the safest area in Dallas but also not bad. Let me know if you have specific questions OP
Thanks a bunch! Do you have any recommendations as far as other apartments? I’ll be working downtown so I’m looking into an easier commute and also a safe neighborhood since I have a dog. My budget is to stay under $1300
I would look at some areas along I75 highway - there are some nice places, maybe you can find something below $1300. I live in the Victory park area (where EY is) and I pay about $1300. The victory park area is pretty safe since it is a little less crowded and the sports arena is here. Camden apartments may be pretty affordable. Plus it has been growing lately, so there are new restaurants/shops popping up. There are also some places in Uptown - a place called Gallery at Turtle Creek I think is right around $1300.
