Very true. I hold myself back I suppose. It’s primarily my career. Being a lawyer isn’t really portable in other countries, other than the other common law countries, but the process can take years and more school.

Ever thought maybe it’s because you’re not from there and they consider you fresh meat? That’s a common phenomenon.

If no one is accepting you back home in a country as diverse as the US then it’s perhaps time to look inward and ask yourself why?
By the way - the reverse also holds for me (German/Danish) whenever I go to the States for work. I also do feel like my mind opens up whenever I’m abroad, so maybe the attitude and mindset is contagious ;)
