Not to add more anxiety, but I would definitely take small steps each week to get over this anxiety and get your license and be comfortable driving. What happens if your kid gets severely ill and you need to drive them to the hospital?
We mostly order groceries online, and my husband either runs errands or drives me.
Before pregnancy, my husband encouraged me to at least get my learner’s licence, but after I explained how intense my road anxiety is, he stopped pushing. The anxiety is so strong that I feel it even as a passenger.
Sometimes I worry about how I’d manage if my husband had to travel for work or wasn’t around for a few days. I know the obvious answer is to learn driving and get my licence, but right now I just can’t.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? How do you manage?

What did you do about your anxiety? What steps did you take, what type of therapy and total years?
I’m not a mom and I’m in the US, but I struggle with driving anxiety too. I’ve had my license since I was 16 and was relatively OK (didn’t drive a lot in high school nor college and then moved to big cities where I didn’t need a car) for 10 years until I had a panic attack while driving on the highway. It really wrecked me.
Slowly I’ve gotten better and I can drive in very specific situations - I avoid highways and routes I’m not familiar with. Thankfully I can drive groceries and other close errands. But I find myself declining events because it’s too far for me to drive, and ubering would be prohibitively expensive.
I’ve heard that Tesla self driving has significantly improved in the last year. In the US it’s $99/month and I am strongly considering this. Not being able to drive seamlessly is quite debilitating.
I’m sorry you’re going through this and I can’t offer you much advice, but I can relate to what you’re feeling. 💜💜

Get targeted therapy for your anxiety, if you haven’t already.
I had a car accident and PTSD as a result when driving, I was able to work through it and get over it.
If you plan to stay in a city, I'm not sure you really need to get a license, right? You can walk/ take public transportation and sounds like you have daycare drop off sorted. Maybe just make sure you always live in a very walk/ public transportation friendly neighborhood (resist the urge to go to the suburbs). A zillion people in NYC don't drive... The anxiety of not driving probably isn't helping your anxiety of driving either. But if you want to get over your anxiety, you'll likely need some therapy geared for that.
