Moving to Chicago next month. Any recommendations for neighborhoods for mid 20s F? Currently living in Park Slope Brooklyn and looking for a similar vibe.

I think Lincoln Park or Wicker Park is going to be the closest vibe to Park Slope.

FWIW - I live in Gold Coast. I absolutely love the convenience - I’m surrounded by great restaurants and shopping, minutes from Mag Mile and the lakefront - but doesn’t really have that “neighborhood” feel that you’ll find a bit further out from the loop.

From a food/bev perspective (which I think is a solid indicator for a neighborhood), I think there is a pretty big difference between neighborhoods East of the river vs neighborhoods west of the river. East (LP, Gold Coast, Lakeview, etc) are great neighborhoods but are pretty culturally sterile, you’ll find a bunch of spots that have big developer 💰 backing them but not much creativity or boundary pushing on the menus. West of the river (Wicker, Logan, Ukrainien V, etc) cool neighborhoods, more walk ups than mid-rises, less “in the heart of Chicago feeling”, but that is where you’re seeing TONS of creativity and trendy (not just for the sake of IG) stuff going down! Not tryna shit on any neighborhood, they are all great first neighborhood bets. Conclusion: East is where you’re more likely to find some rainbow bagels, West is where your more likely to find a former banker who quit their job, spent two years as a bagel apprentice, opened up her own bagel shop and smokes her own lox each week while listening to Miles Davis on a record player.

Ok ibm1. I hope this is simple enough for you to understand.

Park slope

Lakeview

2x assault, burglary, and robbery in comparison

I know, working in that sweatshop blinds people sometimes

like

Lakeview

West loop/river west or west town, Gold Coast is gross, looks and Lakeview is just overpriced and not so great and all the hipster places really aren’t so great.

Hyde park

All of those neighborhoods if you like high crime lol

I think you’re in for a rude awakening if you move into the aforementioned neighborhoods esp river west, Bucktown, lakeview east (esp near boys town) thinking it’s safe like New York is. My suggestion would be to choose a neighborhood north of downtown near the brown line but away from the redline if possible. Southport comes to mind.

MC1 doesnt even live in Chicago anymore but has a lot to say.

When does the recruiter-candidate relationship really end? Everyone says ~6 months but is that 6 months of radio silence? Or is that 6 months from when you authorized to submit apps. If it ever comes up, can’t you just explain that it didn’t work out with the recruiter?
