Unfortunately the best way to get a raise is by going to a new company.
CPI is 3.0%, PCE is 2.1% from what I'm seeing. You should probably go armed with those numbers and reasons lined up why you should get more well in advance. Ideally you should have spoken about the matter before they're decided too.
Salary negotiations are a negotiation, if you're expecting a gift, expect to get the low end.

Cost of living is not the same as labor market price
When inflation is 1% nobody thinks they should only get a 1% raise and you company is likely impacted by inflation as well. The reality is that cost of labor normally determines salaries not inflation.

It would be nice if inflation was dropping and the labor market rates for accountants was increasing.
People keep saying the supply of new accountants is really low and a lot are retiring. I wonder how long before that hits wages.

You forgot to take into consideration that the dollar lost 10% of value ontop of that since February 1. So technically you lost closer to 13% of purchasing power.

The job market is not for us, it's for employers. Invest all you can and try to FIRE. Otherwise it is what it is and is only going to get worse once AI can do more.
And many have a few staff I wouldn't mind losing, because they think the market now has better canadites who will appreciate a job, rather than have seniors complain they need more money to only work 40.
