My company insists on using paper forms and then manually inputting data into Excel. I'm dying inside. How do I convince them to digitize without sounding like a whiny millennial?

Use the environment argument?

Build it, show them!

I don't have a good solution as my company is not far off. I just come here to commiserate together in the fact that businesses don't want to progress and it's shocking.

They are digitizing since they write it down in excel 😊
But to convince them to use excel at first start asking for their arguments about using paper.
Could be :
- that’s what we have always done
- we/the user can’t / don’t know how to input the data in excel first place
- paper is the reference we use and would use in case we need to justify

These could be good points or not, see what are they

Make a mistake at inputting the data and then proceed to show them the mistake would not happen if they had gone digital

Ofc there’s a risk of they just blaming you for it, but YOLO

First understand the problem, why they say no.

Is it:

- Money
- Security
- Lack of developer resources
- Ignorance
- Others?

Once you understand why,you can then decide what the solution needs to be, and whether it can be created.
