My job has been very flexible about appointments and trying to prioritize work life balance. They are even planning an employee retreat this summer. Do you feel your work life balance is prioritized? Does your job have anything planned for it's employees?

No, I do not feel like there is genuine care in our well being or balance. With respect to flexibility, admin has become strict to the letter of the contract. In the past, we could leave early or come in late for appointments and if it was 30 mins or less, we would not be docked. Now we are forced to take 1/2 a sick day, or the whole day. They don’t want to keep track of hours and minutes, so it is take the 1/2 day! I hate this, as it makes more work for me, with having to make sub plans and it creates stress for my paras who have to be my coverage with no support. So, I just make all appointments for school vacation weeks and summer, or for 4 pm. Morale is low here. Very few people sign up for or go to the end of the year party. Only the young new teachers go. The rest of us would rather go home !

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have definitely worked jobs like that where you are not respected. I can understand why you wouldn't want to go to the party.

I definitely do not have a good work/life balance. I just can't seem to find the uuuumph to walk away at the end of the day!

We usually have a last day get together where a lot of the teachers go to a local pup and have food and drinks. I do not drink alcohol, so I usually don't go, but I hear many of our teachers get pretty wasted.

I have had the same problem as far as work parties ! I also get left out due to not drinking. I really hope you can find a better balance.

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

As more and more companies institute a work from home policy, I think it will gradually become the norm. As a 28 year old man who wants to settle down soon, which city would you recommend I look into, assuming me and my partner can work from home? I work in Cybersecurity so would prefer to be closer to the jobs in my field without having to live in the same city.

I love this career and want to help more people but I feel like I really suck at marketing myself to help more people. People don’t pick up the phone or reply to electronic communications. Continued.
