You could discuss how your previous experience should bolster your salary now...you could even mention the rising inflation that we're all experiencing lol
That's very true. Inflation is real, and I'm certainly feeling the effects.
What is the salary range for your role in your location? Use that information coupled with your experience to negotiate your salary.
Well, I'm in Illinois, and it looks like the average for the state is around $120k, but the range goes up to $190k, according to Glassdoor. So $130k really shouldn't be too much to ask, then?
Appeal to emotion with some story of leadership when you're negotiating your salary...Is this an internal move or one outside of your current organization? I guess that would affect how you would prepare.
Outside of my current organization. I'm ready for a change on so many levels.
Do you know what this company generally starts NPs at?
I'm a pharmacist so similarish field. It helps to know avg starting salary by colleagues in the area that that company or similar companies.
Then speak to why you are an asset to making your supervisors work life easier. That's what they care about and may be willing to pay more for someone who can do that for them.
Good luck!
I'm negotiating internal in two months and if it goes sour I'll be looking external.
I was in the same boat. I had an opportunity with the VA hospital in TN. Their average salary according to their website was around $135k. I was offered 92k and I have 6 years ER/primary care experience as an NP. I declined 2 offers. Bumped me to 127k finally, which is respectable in this area. Just depends what facility and where you’re located.
I told them what my current salary was (different organization) and told them what I wanted.
What specialty are you in?
PNP, sorry I should have said that before!
I think that’s reasonable you are a seasoned NP just ask for $150,000k and let the counter offer lower.
