I can't imagine it's easy to walk into a job as an electrician. There's a lot of training involved, not to mention licensing. There are probably electricians who don't have to do a lot of heavy lifting, but I have to assume you need to be in good physical condition. There are heavy tools and equipment, so being able to do some lifting has be considered part of the job. It's great that your patient is ambitious, but he's setting quite a goal for himself.

Thanks for your insight. Do you think its too far of a stretch for him? How hard is it to get into a program?
I don't think it's exceptionally competitive, but I do know it's very physical. My brother-in-law is an electrician and there's a lot of bending, twisting, lifting, climbing, reaching… My brother-in-law is that he's going to struggle to do it later in his career, so I'm not sure if it would be a great option for somebody who isn't physically in tiptop shape.
