My Supervisor took off today & Monday, & put me as an ER (emergency) contact while she is off--therefore, any of her clients will contact me with any EMERGENCY ISSUES they have.Wtf would she do that?? I don't handle alot of her clients, nor do I have the capacity to assist with alot of them. She has the education & training to deal w/these problematic clients, & so does my Director. I really feel like saying to her "I'll do my best to respond to the clients, but if Im unsure, then I will ask the Director

The nerve of your boss to delegate to their subordinate and take TWO days off!!

Clearly they should have just told their clients to go pound sand for two days or delegate UP!?!!

Why not take it as a compliment that she trusts delegating that responsibility to you?

Because OP is the victim in every post she makes 🙄

Good grief. Instead of whining use it as an opportunity to show the Director you can do the job. If nothing else, use it as an opportunity to grow your contacts within the company. Grow up!

Did your supervisor not discuss this with you prior? It certainly doesn’t sound like it. Anytime I have people taking over for me when I’m out on a block like that I meet with them prior to leaving so they’re aware even if the update is everything is BAU, business as usual unless something breaks and you’re unsure of what to do then call me. That’s just common courtesy.

Nope she sure didnt. She just told me how she planned to be off for the next few days & how I ca n text her if there is an emergency. My response to her email was:
"I'm happy to help out where I can while you're out of the office, but I don't usually work with a lot of your clients and don't have the same training for some of the more complex issues. Therefore, I will do the best I can to try to resolve the issues that I am more familiar with handling to the best of my ability. If anything comes up beyond my expertise, then I will reach out to the Director for guidance." Im not taking on ALL of her work while she's off. Thats insane and WAY ABOVE MY pay grade and beyond my capacity.

smart

Probably because she knows and trusts that you can handle it. Think of us out here that when we do our boss' job even by accident, the disapproval we receive or the pettiness that occurs after. Congrats
