It comes in waves for me. That’s why I’m back to applying so I can quit this job lol
Stop doing that, then. Calmly and collaboratively explain your rationale, intentions, and point of view. People can’t read your mind. It’s your project, presentation, idea, whatever. You have to take ownership of communicating it and go in expecting that many people will need you to elaborate. If you’re a director, you’re not paid to agree with the status quo; you’re paid for your ideas and leadership.
Early in my career, I learned the hard way (and quickly) that we wear many hats in our jobs and you have to understand what hat you are wearing when. Team hat, IC hat, Org hat and each hat comes with thier own unique wins and losses. Hopefully that made sense! 😉
Please don’t have a defeatist attitude. I am sure your input and ideas are valuable. Ask to confer with your manager regarding your concerns about not being taken seriously professionally and how it affects your work productivity. This is a discussion worth having. The best of success to you!
